SIDE KNIFE & SHEATH.This knife is pictured on page 212, "Accoutrements IV" by James Johnston and also pictured in Norm Flayderman's "The Bowie Knife" on page 28. These early American made silver mounted knives, often are found identified from the 1790 to War of 1812 era. 13" overall, 9" 18th century style fullered blade, handle is horn with inset mother-of-pearl with silver cap & ferrule, accompanying well fit silver mounted sheath has silver belt loop and frog stud button.UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: copy of pages from Flayderman and Johnson books where illustrated. CONDITION: knife is very good overall, sheath is missing a quarter of its original leather on reverse side, but silver mounts are excellent. PROVENANCE: Norm Flayderman collection; Bill Myers collection; James R. Johnston collection. (02-27260/JS). NON-GUN. $3,000-5,000.
