Winchester Model 1895 Lee Navy .236 USN Straight Pull Rifle Antique

The 6mm Lee Navy (6×60mmSR), also known as the 6mm U.S.N. or .236 Navy, is
an obsolete American rifle cartridge. It was the service cartridge of the United States
Navy and Marine Corps from 1895 (therefore replacing the .45-70 Government rifle
cartridge) to 1899, when it was then itself replaced by the .30-40 Krag rifle cartridge.

Markings: The left side of the receiver is marked MANUFACTURED BY THE
WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO.- / NEW HAVEN. CONN. U.S.A. PAT. OCT.
10.93 JAN.30.94 OCT.8.95. The top of the receiver is marked 12060. Top of barrel
is marked 236 U.S.N. Barrel is 24 inches long.
Manufactured 1896/97.
Blade front sight with ramp, adjustable U notched ladder rear sight, blued finish,
Large smooth bolt knob. One piece smooth sporterzied wood stock, pistol grip
which has nice Winchester grip cap. Checkered steel butt plate.

Finish Originality: Original

Bore Condition: The bore is very good for its age.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 60% of its metal finish. The finish is mostly
even all over.. There are some areas of very light erosion on the magazine.
There is some light scabbing, some of the most noticeable is on the trigger guard.
The screwheads show light tool marks but remain serviceable.
The markings are clear. The rifle rates in about Good condition.
