Lt. Col. George Pfann was General Patton's Secretary of the General's Staff from June 1943 until the end of the war. This lot contains two exceedingly large format books measuring 19 1/4" x 14" titled "THIRD U.S. ARMY VOLUME I" and "THIRD U.S. ARMY VOLUME II". Volume I is subtitled "VOL I THE OPERATIONS" & "AFTER ACTION REPORT THIRD US ARMY 1 AUGUST 1944 - 9 MAY 1945". Volume II is subtitled "VOL II STAFF SECTION REPORTS" & "AFTER ACTION REPORT THIRD US ARMY 1 AUGUST 1944 - 9 MAY 1945". These two books contain a plethora of information including maps, charts, reports, photographs, troop movements and much, much more. The lot also includes a LIFE Magazine dated July 7, 1941 with General Patton on the cover and a silk map of Holland, Belgium, Northeast France and West Central Germany identified to Pfann. Finally the lot contains various personal items, insignias and patches that belonged to Lt. Col. Pfann. This includes his Legion of Merit numbered to him and Bronze Star medals, various patches, Lt. Col. and Major oak leaves, dog tags, General Staff insignia, a Russian Order of the Patriotic War numbered to Pfann and a red leather box marked "G.R.P." containing scholastic and athletic awards from high school and college. There are 3 gold footballs attesting to Pfann's football career at Cornell. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: a large loose leaf binder with a huge assemblage of copied information about Lt. Col. George Pfann. CONDITION: books are quite solid but a bit worn around the edges. Insignia and patches show expected wear. (02-26339/BF). NON-GUN. $2,000-4,000.
