WWII Japanese Officer's Shin-Gunto Sword, with a 24.75 machine made blade, with one mounting hole, Seki Arsenal stamp, and is signed by the arsenal factory worker. Sword features a brass habaki, tsuba decorated with five-petal flowers; standard floral decorated menuki, pommel, and ferrule with spring clip (damaged), missing the seppa spacers. Handle is wood, covered in ray skin, and wrapped in silk ito cord. Scabbard is brown painted steel with floral decorated throat fitting; chape and all the other scabbard fittings are missing. Condition is good, blade has been cleaned and has a few mild rust stains, and a few small nicks to the edge, tip is rounded and dull. Tang with an uncleaned rust patina, markings are clear. Fittings show normal age patina. Handle wrapping shows soiling and light wear. Scabbard shows wear to the painted finish, age, scattered moderate dents, and scratches. Est.: $300-$400.
