Cal. 30-06. S# B7689. Assembly numbers on Johnson rifles rarely if ever match the receiver serial. Bbl. 22". Barrel is unmarked, except for "5172E" on barrel extension. Barrel is a replacement utilizing an original barrel extension. Aperture rear sight graduated to 1,000 meters adjustable for windage. Blade front sight with protective ears. Bayonet lug is not present. Receiver markings include "JOHNSON AUTOMATICS / MODEL OF 1941 / MADE IN PROVIDENCE, R.I., U.S.A / CAL.30-06.SEMI-AUTO". Right rear of receiver has the Cranston Arms "inverted triangle" and the tiny Dutch "acceptance star". These rifles were purchase by the Dutch for service in the East Indies, however, few were delivered due to the beginning of World War II and much of the production was taken-up by the U.S. Government and used in limited issue primarily by the Marine Corps. 10 round rotary magazine. Fine checkered flat buttplate. Walnut stock set. Buttstock has the later 2-piece construction behind the magazine. "1918" dated Model 1907 brown leather sling. CONDITION: stock set has a well-worn original finish with numerous handling marks. Notable chipping on end of pistol grip. Two small cracks behind receiver tang. Forend has nearly full length crack at bottom. Worn metal turning gray with handling marks. Bolt does not hold open on empty magazine. Barrel has notably more of a dark parkerized finish.
