WWII German Army Officer's Dagger with Scabbard by Robert Klaas, 10.25" double edged, spear point blade with maker's mark of two "(cranes)" and "ROBT KLASS/SOLINGEN" on the flat ridge near the crossguard. Handle features a nickel silver plated crossguard with forward rolled quillons, embossed with an eagle holding a swastika inside an oak leaf wreath; buffer pad is present. The steel ferrule and nickel silver pommel cap are decorated with oak leaves and small acorns. The orange celluloid grip is made in a raised rounded style with a descending spiral design. Steel scabbard with a pebbled finish on the body, oak leaf decorated bands, and two suspension rings. Dagger is in very good overall condition. Blade displays typical runner marks and was lightly cleaned, leaving some intermittent salt and pepper blemishes and wear; edges are free of any major flaws and the tip is sharp. Crossguard fits loosely and retains majority of its finish. Handle is near excellent with only minor marks. Pommel cap and ferrule show moderate toning and fit securely to the handle. Scabbard displays normal signs of age and light wear. Est.: $400-600.
