ITEMS OF HEINZ JANTOSCH WHO WAS KIA. This heavy wool blue-gray tunic has a 4 button front and 4 flap pockets. The collar is piped in yellow with a silver bullion band accompanied by yellow collar tabs and a single gull each. The shoulder straps are also piped in yellow with a silver bullion tape. The right breast has a cloth Luftwaffe eagle. Above the left pocket is an Army Close Combat award. Below the flap is a 1st Class iron cross, a Luftwaffe Paratrooper badge, a Luftwaffe Ground Assault badge and a silver Wound badge. There is an iron cross 2nd class ribbon in the 2nd button hole. The left sleeve has a yellow embroidered white cotton cuff title that reads "KRETA". Matching gray wool pants with a 4 button fly and gray cotton pocket bags. The peaked cap has a gray wool crown and a black mohair band all piped in yellow. The crown has an aluminum Luftwaffe eagle on the front and the band has an aluminum winged wreath and kokade. Black chip strap and visor. Brown sweatband with a rust colored painted cotton liner. The partial sweat shield reads "Max Wenge? Uniformmutzen Fabrik Gumbinnen Lieferjahr 1939". Also included in this lot is a boot/fighting knife with scabbard measuring 12" overall and a gravity knife measuring 11" extended with a blade marked "PAUL WEYERSBERG & CO. (logo) SOLINGEN ROSTFREI". A Luftwaffe enlisted belt with aluminum buckle, a WWII iron cross 2nd Class with ribbon and issue envelope, Luftwaffe paratrooper ring in case, green and white cloth cuff title that reads "Fallschirm-Jager Rgt. 1", a small leather pouch, and 2 photographs of Sgt. Jantosch. Lastly, this lot includes award documents for many of Sgt. Jantosch's medals and a letter dated Dec. 1944 to Jantosch's family expressing condolences on his death. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: a loose leaf binder with information about Fallschrimjager Divisions. CONDITION: the uniform shows very little wear and could have been ordered by Jantosch shortly before his death in battle and perhaps never worn. We would recommend a personal inspection of this group by interested bidders. Badges show light wear with some surface oxidation. Cap shows light wear on the exterior and moderate wear on the interior. Both knives show light wear as do the other items in the lot. (02-26220/BF). NON-GUN. $4,000-6,000.
