WWI German 1917 Dated Navy Luger, #8213, 9mm cal., 6" barrel, rust blue finish, straw colored small parts, checkered walnut grips, dovetailed inverted-V front sight, two-position adjustable rear sight with V-notch, and stock lug. Includes one mismatched tin-plated magazine with wood base. Base is marked "7033" and has a faint "(crown)/M". The pistols toggle is marked ''DWM'' with a ''1917'' chamber date. Imperial Navy proof mark and two ''(crown)M'' acceptance marks are visible on the left side of the receiver. Left side of barrel with Imperial Navy ''(crown)'' proof mark, bottom with small ''(crown)M''; ''1917'' on left side of the front sight base and left edge of the frame, above the takedown lever. All visible numbers matching including the firing pin (excluding the magazine); grips are not numbered. Pistol is in good overall condition, retaining approx. 70% original blue; 40% thinning and toning straw colors. There is considerable wear across the barrel, which accounts for most of the finish loss. Otherwise, showing moderate wear to the sideplate, front grip strap, and edges. There are scattered freckles of patina, salt and pepper blemishes. Factory lettering and proof marks are clear. Grips display age and wear that is consistent with the rest of the pistol, including some smoothing of the checkering detail, and a few impressions to the right panel. Action and hold open function properly. Bore with mild frosting; rifling rates very good and is clearly defined. Magazine is very good, showing mild yellow toning to the body; there are no significant marks to the wood base. Est: $1,500-$2,000. (C&R/PPT)
