WWI German 1915 Dated DWM Luger Semi-Automatic Pistol with WWII Dated Capture Papers, #5353, 9mm cal., 4" barrel, rust blue finish, straw colored small parts, checkered walnut grips, inverted-V front sight, fixed rear sight with small V- notched groove, and stock lug. Includes one mis-matched tin plated magazine with wood base, numbered "5356a+" on the base, no other markings. Includes two "capture papers" dated June & July 1945, to PFC Julius Petitti, listing the pistol by serial number, but identifying the caliber as .38. Pistol is marked "DWM" on toggle with "1915" date on top of chamber. Right side of receiver with three "(crown)/script letter" military proofs and test fire proof mark. All visible numbers matching (excluding the magazine), including both grips. Condition is very good, retaining approx. 92% toning original blue, with holster wear to some of the edges and muzzle accounting for most of the finish loss. There is frosting and scattered specks of oxidation scattered throughout, a little heavier at the muzzle end of the barrel. Approx. 75% toning straw colors remain, with most of the wear being to the safety. Factory lettering and proof marks are clear. Grips show moderate age and wear, with a larger flat spot on the upper section of the left panel. Action and hold open function properly. Bore is bright throughout with a few salt and pepper blemishes at the mid-point; rifling is well-defined. Magazine body displays mild cleaned pitting; base with normal light marks. Papers show yellowing, creasing, and some tatters along the edges. Est.: $1,800-$2,400. (C&R/PPT)
