Cal. 13 TUF. S# 5910. Bbl. 39 1/2". Blade front sight. Tangent rear sight graduated to 500m. All visible matching numbers. The Tank-Gewehr was developed as a stop-gap response to Allied Tanks on the Western Front during WW1. The rifle was essentially a scaled-up single shot version of the 1898 Mauser action. Receiver ring marked with Mauser Banner & 1918 date. Elm stock set with two-piece butt, proper "R" marking & partially faded Imperial inspection stamps. MG08/15 style bipod present. CONDITION: stock set shows light separation of butt joint, several armorer plugs mostly on butt, a few chipped areas, scattered dings, scratches & handling wear. Recoil lug is protruding outward slightly & has some improper removal damage on right side. Balance of metal is an overall dull gray patina with oxidation throughout & some light pitting. Action functions properly when hand cycled. Bright near excellent bore. (26-44/MJC). CURIO. $7,500-12,000.
