DRAGOONS, BOTH FULLY LOADED.Cals: 44. S# 15403/ 18813. This pair of guns appeared on the cover of the 1979 Wisconsin Gun Collectors Association bulletin. The guns belonged to Bill Pirie and he tells the story of buying them in San Antonio with their history as descended in the family of San Antonio stage coach driver who carried them on every trip. Pistols were heavily rusted but are intact and after five weeks of penetrating oil, both function adequately. S# 18813 is a scarce 8" barrel model, the other standard 7.5". Each revolver has 5 loaded chambers, the 6th of each used as safety. Bill's article ends "These are the first dragoons I have ever owned and because of the interesting circumstances I believe I will own them for quite some time." They are now being sold in estate, bought and kept for almost 60 years. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: 1979 Wisc. Gun Collectors Bulletin, manuscript and typed copies of "A Pair of Winners" article by Bill Pirie. CONDITION: both with heavy iron patina and pitting. S# 15403 has good barrel address and "COLTS / PATENT" on frame, S# 18813 has weak patent mark and barrel address is only partially visible. S# on both guns match and are discernible, both wedges appear original from time of use, S# 15403 numbered 5105, and S# 18813 un-numbered. S# 15403 is missing the spring loaded catch at end of loading lever. Stocks are worn but both sets fit well. Mechanics good on S# 15403, S# 18813 cocks but cylinder does not advance every time. Bores both have sharp rifling with pitted areas. PROVENANCE: Estate Collection of William Pirie Co-Author of "Variations of Colt's New Model Police & Pocket Breech Loading Pistols". (01-29267/01-29268/JS). ANTIQUE. (5,000-8,000). THESE GUNS CAN NOT BE SHIPPED LOADED. THEY MUST BE PICKED UP OR UNLOADED TO BE SHIPPED
