AFRICA SIGNATURE SERIES DAKOTA 76 WITH SCOPE. Cal. .450 Ackley Mag. S# 0452L. This beautifully appointed left hand bolt action rifle has 22" tapered octagon barrel with integral quarter rib holding one standing one folding express rear sight. Matching front ramp holds silver bead with flip up night bead covered by slip on sight protector. Top of barrel has fine gold lines and relief scrolls which surrounds "Nyati" (Shona for Cape Buffalo). This gold line inlay and semi-relief foliage engraving is found at muzzle and at rear where it frames "John Bolliger" "RIFEMAKER" on right. Left side is engraved "Four Fifty" "ACKLEY MAGNUM". Left hand Dakota M76 magnum Mauser type action (Dakota info is at center of sidewall) has engine turned bolt body, multi-panel checkered knob, and M70 type safety. Drop box bottom metal has deep extended hinged floorplate with push-button release in trigger guard bow. Action and bottom metal are near fully engraved with exceptionally fine semi-relief scroll and acanthus highlighted by flush gold inlaid lines as found on barrel. This dramatic engraving and gold work outlines flush gold inlaid and Bulino engraved African scenes of Cape Buffalo on floorplate. A group of three dagga boys with huge gold inlaid bull at center is on left side along with three more on right. Bottom of floorplate has gold inlaid massive single bull with wide spread and deep drop to horns looking directly at you with that "owe him money" stare. This exceptional work is by the very highly regarded Lisa Tomlin who's signature, "Lisa", is found at bottom right of bottom buffalo scene. Her fine work extends to grip cap engraved with another gold inlaid dagga boy and scope rings. John Bolliger designed pistol grip stock of gray-green laminated wood shows John's classic styling with swept left hand cheekpiece, steel grip cap (with engraving matching action), ebony forend tip, left hand palm swell, and sling eye on raised base. Stock measures 13-3/4" over black basket weave Decelerator pad. Checkering is also a Bolliger design with fleur-de-lis intrusions into point patterns. Grip has uncheckered ribbons on each side. Execution is, as always, flawless. Rifle is topped with Swarovski 30mm 2.5-10 x 42 Habicht scope with 3 post and cross hair retical in Dakota QD rings engraved en suite with action. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: consignor's information sheet. Also included are 3 - 20 rd. boxes of V Forshan custom ammo; 1 solids & 2 - 500 gr. Hornady softs. CONDITION: exceptionally fine. Appears unfired with only a very few handling and assembly marks in all fine factory finishes. Bore is bright and shiny. Mechanically fine. Scope is also essentially "as new" optically clear. To have this incredible rifle reproduced today would certainly cost well in excess of $35K. PROVENANCE: Military Museum Collection of Shooters Outpost, Hooksett NH. (26-2237/MGM). MODERN. $10,000-15,000.
