IN .219 ZIPPER. Cal. 219 Zipper. S# 1279347. Bbl. 20". Model 94 lever action carbine mfg. by Winchester in 1941. Left side of the bbl. is marked with the model designation and Winchester trademark logo, followed by "-219 ZIPPER-", with Winchester's mfg. information marked on the right. Underside of bbl. is marked with a "32" date, followed by "32 W.S.", followed by an upside down "C.M.S.". Bbl. shows no signs of having been refinished or sleeved for the .219 Zipper cartridge. Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall. Single band fastened plain wood forearm and straight grip stock with flat grooved steel buttplate. Ramped, hooded, and brass beaded blade front sight with elevation adj. U-notch rear sight. CONDITION: metal components retain the majority of their original factory blue finish, exhibiting some spots of light to mild wear and thinning fading to gray patina, some scattered superficial handling marks, as well as some scattered spots of light surface oxidation. Lever and buttplate exhibit patches of light to mild surface oxidation. Very bright bore, retaining well defined rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics. Wood furniture shows scattered marks and minor impressions from handling and storage, but otherwise remains sound. As previously mentioned, the bbl. shows no signs of having been reblued or sleeved for the .219 Zipper cartridge, and although .32 Winchester Special and .219 Zipper cartridges are derived from the same parent casing (.30-30 WCF), the bbl. was produced in 1932, 5 years prior to the introduction of .219 Zipper. While no known/documented Model 94s were produced in the .219 Zipper cartridge, page 238 of the second edition of "Winchester Model 94" by Robert C. Renneberg states "There is a rumor from a well-regarded source of a Model 94 20-inch carbine in caliber .219 zipper", leaving this example purely up to speculation and interpretation. (25-1383/MLW). CURIO. $500-1,000.
