Cal. 30 WCF. S# 424044. Bbl. 18 1/2". Model 1894 lever action rifle mfg. by Winchester in 1907. Left quarter flat of the half-octagonal bbl. is marked with the cal. designation towards the breech, with the model designation marked on the upper receiver tang. Metal components exhibit a reapplied blue finish overall. Sanded and refinished plain wood forearm and straight grip buttstock with crescent steel buttplate. Dovetailed aftermarket King brass beaded blade front sight. Original rear sight dovetail has been filled in, with a new dovetail cut 1 3/4" further to the rear. Dovetailed U-notch rear sight with shortened elevation slide. Left side of receiver exhibits 2 filled in holes, with 1 filled in hole on the right above the loading gate. Upper receiver tang exhibits an added threaded hole, likely for a tang sight attachment. Bbl. and mag. tube have been shortened at one time. CONDITION: metal components retain large amounts to the majority of their reapplied blue finish, exhibiting light to mild edge wear fading to gray patina, scattered spots and patches of light surface oxidation and pitting, as well as striations from prior cleaning. Dark bore, exhibiting consistent dark mild to moderate pitting, while retaining fair rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics. Wood furniture shows scattered marks and small impressions from handling and storage, with a crack present on the left side of the forearm stemming from the nose cap. (25-5346/MLW). CURIO. $400-600.
