POLICE LUGER SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL. Cal. 9x19mm. S# 3777n. Bbl. 3 15/16". P.08 Luger semi-automatic pistol mfg. by DWM in 1920 for Weimar police use. The top of the bbl. extension is marked with the year of mfg. "1920" (in accordance with the Treaty of Versailles), with a triad of Weimar Eagle/Ar.A.4 inspection proofs marked on the right (Eagle/Ar.A.4 proof is repeated on the bbl. and left side of the breechblock). Toggle is marked with the intertwined "DWM" monogram logo. Front grip strap is police unit marked "S.Mg.161.", indicating issue to the "Schutzpolizei Magdeburg" (Protection Police, Magdeburg District) at the toe. Metal components exhibit a police arsenal applied rust blue finish overall, with some small parts including the takedown lever, trigger, mag. release button, safety lever, as well as the ejector exhibiting a straw finish. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered wood grips. Standard dovetailed blade front sight and fixed V-notch rear sight. Nearly all serialized parts are matching and include the frame, takedown lever, sideplate, trigger, safety lever & bar, hold-open latch, bbl., bbl. extension, trigger bar, breechblock, extractor, firing pin, as well as the toggles. Grips are unnumbered. MAGS: 1 blued 8-rd. mag. marked "122" above 2 Eagle/37 proofs on the left side of the body, with renumbered aluminum plug marked "3777/ d/ +". CONDITION: metal components retain the majority of their police arsenal applied rust blue finish, exhibiting some spots/areas of light to mild wear and thinning that is fading to gray patina, some superficial handling marks, as well as a few scattered spots of light surface oxidation. Forward toggle link exhibits areas of light to mild pitting beneath the bluing. Grip straps exhibit light to mild wear and thinning with areas showing through to gray patina. Strawed parts retain good amounts of their finish, showing scattered spots of light surface oxidation and age related discoloration. Bore exhibits consistent mild to moderate pitting, retaining fair worn rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics.
