MAJOR HAMILTION DELEGME OF THE 21ST LANCERS.Cal. 455. S# 3687. Bbl. 7 1/2" with Wilkinson Gunmaker London retailer marking. Blade front sight. U-notch rear sight. All visible matching numbers including insides of both grip panels. Backstrap marked "H. DELMEGE 21ST LANCERS" for Major Carfrae Hamilton Delemge who went by Hamiltion of the 21st Lancers. Delemge was wounded in action in Egypt in 1915. Factory records indicate this Target Model revolver was sold in 1913 by Wilkinson. Blued finish. Checkered hardwood grips with additional "4185" stamping on bottom of right panel. Lanyard ring present on bottom of grip frame. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: a Wilkinson letter on this revolver, several pages of correspondence, information on the revolver, Delemge, his service in the British Army & family. CONDITION: grips show a couple light chips, scattered checkering wear, handling marks & staining. Metal is mostly an honest gray patina with scattered traces of original blue, some edge wear, handling marks, a couple spots of light pitting & some scattered light oxidation. Action functions properly when hand cycled. Bore shows some frosting & light pitting but good rifling. (26-2139/MJC). CURIO. $5000-8000.
