LIGHTWEIGHT DELUXE TAKEDOWN LEVER ACTION RIFLE WITH BEARSKIN GLOVES AND AMMO BOX. Cal. 30 WCF. S# 88152. This rare special order short rifle is fitted with a 22" half octagon nickel steel bbl with Lyman white bead front sight mounted on a raised ramp & Lyman folding leaf rear sight. The bbl has the "MANUFACTURED BY THE / WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO. NEW HAVEN. CONN. The pistol grip take down frame has the early "MODEL 1894 / -WINCHESTER- / PAT. AUG. 21.1894-" upper tang marking & assembly number "9548", "XX", "OHRB" assembly markings. It is stocked with nicely figured XX walnut with style H factory checkering that terminates with hard rubber "WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO" pistol grip cap & shotgun buttplate. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: This rifle is accompanied with a factory letter confirming all of the above listed special features with the exception of a rear cup disc sight that is listed on the letter, but is not present. It was received in the warehouse on July 2, 1900 and shipped the same day in order 63006. There is also a pair of early bear skin fingered gloves that the consignor stated has accompanied this rifle for many years and a 20rd leather ammo box from Geo Lawrence Co of Portland Or. CONDITION: Overall very good. This nice honest example retains 98% of its original barrel bluing with some light edge wear. The lever has 20% of its vivid case coloring in the protected areas. The stock set is very nice and sound with light hand wear and minor handling marks. The forearm is nice with good original varnish that has some small flakes and mild edge wear. The butt is also very fine with two very small edge chips around the tang areas and otherwise sound. The buttplate has a small chip at the toe. The bore is very nice with light rifling wear. A very fine honest lettered 1894 deluxe. (26-2018/ZAL) CURIO $5,000-8,000
