Cal. 30 Luger. S# 28468. Bbl. 4 3/4". P'06 Luger semi-automatic pistol mfg. In Switzerland by Waffenfabrik Bern in 1929. Left side of the bbl. extension is marked with a "BP" (Beschubprobe) proof, followed by a boxed "+/ M" proof, indicating inspection by Major Muhlemann, with a small Swiss Federal Cross firing proof marked on the right (repeated on right side of frame and left side of the bbl.). Toggle is marked with the Swiss Federal Cross above "WAFFENFABRIK/ BERN". Front of the trigger guard is stamped "P", indicating private purchase. Metal components exhibit a rust blue finish overall, save for on some small parts including the takedown lever, trigger, safety lever, and ejector, which are strawed. Frame is properly polished in-the-white at the safety lever's "fire" position, and is mounted with 2-piece checkered wood grips. Standard dovetailed blade front sight and fixed V-notch rear sight. Front sight blade has been reheated, exhibiting a straw coloration. All serialized parts are matching and include the frame sideplate, trigger, grip safety, bbl., bbl. extension, breechblock, forward toggle link (underside), rear toggle link, as well as the grips (interior). MAGS: x1 plated 8-rd. with wood plug marked "2". Strawed parts show spots and small patches of wear that are fading to gray patina. Brilliant mirror bore, retaining strong rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics. Grips show light smoothing, as well as a few small superficial handling marks, but otherwise remain sound. PROVENANCE: The Estate Collection of John Eckert. (26-1169/MLW). CURIO. $1,500-2,250.
