POLICE LUGER SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL. Cal. 9x19mm. S# 7860m. Bbl. 4 1/8". P.08 Luger semi-automatic pistol seemingly fashioned from a 1920 Commercial Luger mfg. by DWM for police use. The bbl. extension is marked "1920" (in accordance with the Treaty of Versailles), with a Crown/N commercial nitro proof marked on the left (repeated on underside of bbl. and left side of breechblock). Toggle is marked with the intertwined "DWM" monogram logo. Front grip strap is police unit marked "L.P.Th.Nr.1741" ("4" partially overstamping a "7" and apparent "0" or "6"), indicating issue to the "Landpolizei Thuringen" (State Police of Thuringia). Metal components exhibit a rust blue finish overall, with some small parts including the takedown lever, trigger, mag. release button, safety lever, and ejector exhibiting a straw finish. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered wood grips. Standard dovetailed blade front sight and fixed V-notch rear sight. Bbl. extension is fitted with a Schiwy trigger bar safety, with the frame featuring a clipped Walther trigger / mag. safety. All serialized parts are matching in a combination of the "hidden" commercial and "exposed" fashions, and include the frame, takedown lever, sideplate, trigger, bbl. bbl. extension, and rear toggle link, with remaining parts/components being unserialized. Grips bear no factory/arsenal markings, with the left panel matching via a faint handwritten "7860" in apparent black marker. MAGS: 1 non-matching 8-rd. mag. with wood plug. Plug is marked with a matching "L.P.Th." above # "5391". CONDITION: metal components retain the majority of their original factory rust blue finish, exhibiting some spots/areas of light to mild wear and thinning that has faded to gray patina, some light superficial handling marks, as well as a few scattered spots of light surface oxidation overall. Strawed parts are very good with some spots of light wear. Mirror bore, exhibiting a few scattered spots of very light to light pitting, while retaining well defined rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics. Takedown lever is bent slightly outward away from the frame. Grips are very good to excellent, showing some very light smoothing to some of the diamonds, with a repaired chip present at the top left corner on the left panel.
