STOCK PERCUSSION RIFLE. Cal. 32 NSN. Jean-Baptiste Revol (1799–1886) high quality New Orleans gunsmith made some of the finest arms of the antebellum South. This is a deluxe high conditioned survivor, engraved steel mounted, brown and case color finish, nicely figured varnished walnut stock, gold vacant thumbplate. Stamped on top of barrel and lock "REVOL / N. ORLEANS", fixed rear sight, hooded front sight, screwed aperture for "lollipop" tang sight. Engraved trigger guard with finger loop terminates in acorn shaped finial as does floorplate, double set triggers. Original brass tipped wood ramrod, has attached steel combination screw/wiping worm. CONDITION: Very fine overall. Barrel retains 90% plus thinning original brown finish. Lock, hammer and breech retain strong bright and muted case colors. Stock is fine, sound, & solid, most all original bright glossy varnish is retained. Mechanically fine with shiny bright rifled bore.
