MAGAZINE PISTOL. Cal. 32 RF Extra Short. S# NSN There were only an estimated 10,000 +/- of these interesting pistols produced by Remington. This example has full nickel finish with attractive factory engraving and mother of pearl grips. It has a 3" octagon bbl with full length magazine that loads from the muzzle end. The barrel is marked with the 2-line address "E. REMINGTON & SONS, ILION, N.Y. / RIDERS PAT. AUG. 15, 1871" and is decorated with repeating geometric patterns on the side flats and a wavy vine embellishment on each top side flat. The frame is adorned with a foliate scroll with punch dot background on each side and part of the back strap. CONDITION: overall very fine. The pistol retains 95% of the original nickel finish with some wear found on the end of the magazine tube cap and some mild flaking on the straps. The bbl legend and engraving are both crisp. The grips are very fine. There is a buggered screw on the backstrap, but otherwise fine. Grips are very fine. Nice bore with some light rifling wear and a few spots of shallow pitting. (01-28885/ZAL). ANTIQUE. $1,800-2,750.
