USN Model 1852 Dress Sword and Scabbard, no visible maker's marks, and appears to have been made in mid-1900's, but without a maker's name it's uncertain. Blade has the "PROVED" disc on the right and is named to Neil Edgar Kingsley. Etched blade is in very good condition with some light rust spots near the top left. Hilt and ray skin covering are very good and the wire wrapping is tight. Leather with brass scabbard is marked "NEK" on top and in very good condition, but the drag is loose. Sword knot is good with some soiling. Included is a leather carrying case marked "NEK/U.S.N."; in good condition with areas of crazing and one broken closure strap. The sword may have belonged to Capt. Neil Edgar Kingsley U.S.N. who can be found on the internet. He graduated from the Naval Academy in May 1934 and should be further researched. Est.: $350-$500.
