RIFLE. Cal. 30-06. S# 743736. Bbl. 24". Barrel markings on the right side are inverted, marked "S-A-4-42". Throat gauges 2.0. Muzzle gauges 1.0. Rifle has many correct early features including locking bar sight and short fork operating rod. Receiver is drilled on the left rail for and unknown scope mount which utilizes three holes. The holes have screws as plugs. The forward screw is raised approximately 1/4" above the line of the rear two screws. Locking bar rear sight. Blade front sight with protective ears. All major parts markings are "SA" except the operating rod with its square cut is marked "WRA". Short fork early operating rod. Single slot gas cylinder lock screw. Walnut stock set. Stock is marked on left side with boxed "EMcl" and "crossed cannons". Encircled "P" proof under grip. Unmarked Model 1907 military sling with brass hooks. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: cleaning rod, combination tool and grease cup in butt. CONDITION: stock set has worn original finish with numerous handling marks while retaining legible markings. Metal retains 75% of its worn original finish. Receiver has notable loss of finish in area drilled for scope mount. Bore has moderately worn lands with frosted grooves. (26-1339/RW).
