MILITARY RIFLE. Cal. 30-06. S# 1175865. Bbl. 24". Barrel marked behind front sight "SA / flaming bomb / 1-20". This Mark I rifle with its original magazine cutoff, spindle, double sear trigger and correct buttstock. Rifle is equipped with a 20 round extended magazine. The blued steel magazine is unmarked and utilizes a stamped magazine follower. The correct "S" type straight grip stock is marked with a boxed "E.H.D." inspection mark. Marked "J" in cutoff recess. Rear sight without volley notch graduated to 2,850 yards. Blade front sight with protective cover. Bolt is marked "61" under safety lug. Straight down handle. Balance of bolt parts are unmarked. All milled furniture including smooth trap buttplate. Original floorplate, follower and magazine spring are not present. Brown leather sling with brass hooks is marked "B.T. & B. CO.". UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: nickel plated oiler in butt. Model 1942 bayonet. 15 7/8" fullered blade. 20 9/16" overall. Left ricasso has "PAL" in oval, "US / flaming bomb / 1942". Unmarked right ricasso shows grinding marks. Ribbed plastic grips. Scabbard is covered with khaki canvas. Brown leather tip and is equipped with Model 1910 belt hook. Bayonet blade shows heat discoloration suggestive of annealing and has a shallow perpendicular saw cut 9" behind tip. Balance of metal turning gray and patina. Shows wear and staining, but remains in serviceable condition. CONDITION: stock set has worn arsenal rework finish with added finish and numerous handling marks throughout. Metal has a lightly worn arsenal rework finish. Receiver is a notable dull green shade. Bore has worn lands with lightly frosted grooves.
