RIFLE. Cal. 30-06. S# 1464182. Bbl. 24". Barrel is marked behind front sight "U.S.M.C. 9-43" and encircled "S". These barrels were supplied to the United States Marine Corps by Sedgley and were used as field replacements. Ladder rear sight graduated to 2,850 yards with volley notch. Blade front sight with protective hood. Serial number indicates rifle produced in 1984. Bolt is marked on top of handle "NS" for nickel steel. Bolt has non-matching electro-penciled serial number. All milled furniture including fine checkered buttplate. Walnut stock set. Buttstock is Model 1903A3 type with two recoil bolts and the inletting to allow use of the later handguard ring in-front of receiver. Marked "K" in cutoff recess to indicate manufacture by Keystone. Pistol grip is notably more full than the earlier 1903A1 style. Model 1907 type brown leather sling with steel hooks. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: nickel-plated oiler in butt. Canvas muzzle cover dated 1943. CONDITION: stock set has a very good appearance with only scattered tiny handling marks. Metal is a mix of blue and parkerized finishes. Receiver is notably turning gray. Bore is shiny with worn lands and notable erosion visible near throat. (26-60/RW). CURIO. $800-1,200.
