The original rear sight has been modified by removing the folding ladder and equipping the movable base with a standard type scope block. The unmarked block measures approximately 2 1/2" long and has no locking notch. The handguard inletting has rounded edges and is notably off-center in relation to the scope block. Bolt is not present in the rifle. Milled follower. Rifle is equipped with a very nice original straight grip S type stock with a crisp WJS boxed inspector's mark and encircled P proof under grip. Marked with T in the cutoff recess. Stock has two recoil bolts. All milled furniture including fine checkered trap buttplate. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: U.S. Krag oiler in butt. CONDITION: stock has light wear and scattered handling marks throughout. Stock is cut on the right side for the sight base. Metal retains 75% of its thinning blue finish. Bolt raceways in receiver appear polished, but the right rail has no visible center-punch mark. Good shiny bore with lightly worn lands. PROVENANCE: From the Lifetime Collection of Malcolm Zickler, Ret. USAF Lt. Col. (26-749/RW). MODERN. $1,000-1,500.
