CONVERSION RIFLE. Cal. 22LR. S# 695223. Bbl is 24". Model 1903 Springfield bolt action rifle. The rifle mfg in 1917. It has been fitted with a kit made by Numrich Arms to convert the rifle from the original 30-06 to use low cost .22 caliber ammunition. The conversion is accomplished by the addition of the .22 caliber bore liner which extends to approx 2" from the muzzle. The original service bolt has been replaced by an M-2 Springfield bolt. The conversion is fed by a detachable magazine of approx 10-rd marked "Marlin" on the floorplate. This magazine is installed in a large bow Model 1903 A3 trigger guard. The rifle bbl is marked behind the front sight "AV" / flaming bomb / "1-18". The ladder rear sight is graduated to 2850 yards. Blade front sight with protective hood. All milled furniture except trigger guard, smooth trap buttplate. Walnut stock set unmarked straight grip "S" type stock. Brown leather military-type sling. MAGS: 1 10-rd detachable. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: nickel plated oiler in butt. CONDITION: stock set has an arsenal rework finish resulting in loss of wood in inletted areas. Stock has moderate wear, staining and handling marks. Worn metal is turning overall gray with traces of blue in protected areas. Very good shiny bore with sharp lands.
