ALBUMS. Both albums 8x5", full leather bound with gilt edges, about 100 notes & signatures class of 1859/1860, all southern men, many became soldiers, a few signed during war with units. One album belonged to William Breedlove Smith who served in Confederate Navy on CSS Sumter, CSS Alabama and CSS Shenandoah. Over 70% of students at university served during the war in 1860/1861 class. This will be an interesting project to find histories of all the signatures. CONDITION: very good overall, spines each have lower thirds removed, signatures all fine. PROVENANCE: Dr. Reggie Van Driest collection. (02-27151-1/JS). $1,000-2,000.
