FOR SHOULDER STOCK. Cal. 36. S# 8063. Once part of Colt Factory Museum, listed in Arthur Ulrich's inventory in 1956, it was appraised as part of the museum and was one of 290 guns part of huge litigation concerning their sale/trade in 1980. Revolver in inventory is listed as "gun 210" and described as "serial number 8083 old model navy revolver, experimental slot for rear sight, also cut for stock". There is only one external S# and that is on loading lever flat. Norm Flayderman correctly noted the serial as 8063 with same description. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: copy of appropriate portions of Arthur Ulrich's Colt Museum inventory & Norm Flayderman's 1974 appraisal of Colt Museum listing this firearm. CONDITION: very fine, barrel is mostly plum with about half of its original thin blue, one-line Hartford address has experimental dovetail notch cut for rear sight. Cylinder has about 90% thinning blue with crisp cylinder scene, it has never been fitted for nipples, 6 crisp like new safety pins. Frame was never marked and has strong muted case colors. Trigger guard lacks final milling as noted by raised ridge where usually numbered. The loading arm has bright case colors and "8063" stamped. Frame has holes drilled for 4th frame screw to retain stock yoke. Backstrap has notch cut in butt to accept the stock bolt found on the 3rd type shoulder stock which became the standard for dragoons, armies, and navies. PROVENANCE: Martin Lane lifetime collection. (01-28166/JS). ANTIQUE. $10,000-15,000.
