Springfield Model 1873 Trapdoor 45-70 Rifle c/w Bayonet - Civil War Era

There is a RESERVE set on this beauty fo ONLY $1300

The Springfield Model 1873 was a trapdoor breechblock service rifle produced by the Springfield
Armory for the United States military. It was the first standard-issue breech-loading rifle adopted by
the United States Army.
Few rifle-cartridge combinations carry the historical weight of the .45-70 Government cartridge and
the Springfield Trapdoor rifle. Known for its unforgiving kick and rugged simplicity, this post-Civil
War rifle is in very good condition..

The overall length is approximately 54.5 inches. The 32 inch round barrel has a good bore with
strong rifling and areas of light pitting. The barrel and action have a blue-brown patina. The lock has a
gray brown patina. The US Springfield stamping on the side lock is nicely visible. Various other
stampings as shown in pictures.

The stock is very good with no cracks at all. The barrel bands are tight. A correct 1884 Buffington
carbine sight is present. The sling ring and bar are present. The action functions correctly.

Bayonet is marked US and is 21 inches long in excellant condition.

Overall an easy 8/10 collectible Post Civil War rifle..
