Scarce Engraved Remington-Beals 3rd Model Pocket Revolver, #377, .31 cal., 4" octagon barrel, gray patina, checkered hard rubber grips, spur trigger, silver cone front sight, and fixed "V"-notch rear sight. Cylinder with etched scroll design. Frame with period floral scroll engraving. Barrel address is marked in two-lines "BEALS PATENT 1856 & 57, & 58./MANUFACTURED BY REMINGTONS ILION, N.Y." Matching numbers located on left side of the grip frame, underside of the barrel, and bottom of each grip panel. The 3rd Model was only manufactured between 1859 & 1860, with a production quantity of only approx. 1,000 . Overall condition of this revolver is very good, displaying an even gray color across the metal surfaces, mixed with spots of mild darker patina, intermittent light pinprick pitting, confined mainly to the rear top strap of the frame, front and rear ends of the cylinder. Grips are excellent, showing minimal handling marks. Engraving and factory lettering is clear. Etching on the cylinder is visible but shows more wear. Action functions well, but the cylinder has a moderate+ amount of excess rotational movement. Bore is fair, with visible rifling and scattered erosion. Est.: $1,600-$2,200.
