Scarce Dutch Police Kobold Double Action Service Revolver, #337, 9.4 Dutch cal., 3.5" octagon barrel, blue finish, checkered hardwood two-piece grips with lanyard ring, dovetailed blade front and fixed "U"-notch rear sight. This revolver features a 5-shot unfluted cylinder and unusual cylinder block safety on the left side of the frame. Marked "HAAG-AMSTERDAM ARNHEM" on the left barrel flat and "NED WAPENMAGAZIJN-HAARLEM" on the right, with Belgian proofs on the cylinder, and "337" on left side of the frame. Mfgd circa 1890s-early 1900s. Revolver is in good overall condition, retaining traces of thinning original finish on the barrel and frame, with wear at the muzzle, scattered small spots of surface erosion, and edgewear. Cylinder displays a mixture of light and dark patina, marked "2(arrow)1". Grip frame and trigger guard have drifted to gray. Hammer and trigger show silvered color case hardening. Grips show heavy wear with dents and smoothing of the checkering. Action functions well. Bore is dark with moderate erosion and visible rifling. Markings on the barrel flats are marked by the Dutch retailer. Est.: $400-$600. (C&R)
