Sauer & Sohn Model 1913 Semi-Auto Pistol with Imperial Navy Proof Mark, #31684, .32 ACP cal., 3" barrel, blue finish, checkered plastic two-piece S&S marked grips, low- profile blade front sight and fixed U-notch rear sight, with two (2) 7-round blued magazines. The first magazine is marked "S&S 7.65" on the left side of the body; second magazine is unmarked. Pistol also includes a brown leather holster. The inside of the flap is ink stamped "B.A.XI."; front under the flap is stamped "1917", "82", and circular maker's mark that reads "Werk Genossenschaft, Berlin". Pistol is marked "(crown)N" on the right side of the frame; left rear with Imperial German Navy "(crown)M" proof. Matching visible serial numbers, including the firing pin. No import marks. Pistol is in good overall condition. Metal displays a combination of thinning and toning blue mixed with dark patina, with scattered mild frosting and light pitting, most notably on the left side of the slide and left front of the frame. Grips rate fine and show moderate age and light handling marks. Action functions well. Bore with scattered spots of moderate erosion; rifling is very good and clearly defined. The S&S marked magazine retains approx. 40%-50% blue; other magazine shows light wear to the front and back edges. Holster is good, markings are clear. Most of the wear occurs on the bottom of the magazine pouch, which has a small hole worn through at each corner. An interesting pistol which needs further research and authentication as Navy markings on this type of pistol are highly unusual. Est.: $800-$1,200. (C&R/PPT)
