SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL. Cal. 30 Luger. S# 3737v. Bbl. 4 5/8". Model 1906/34 Luger semi-automatic pistol mfg. by Mauser for Switzerland. The bbl. extension is marked with the Swiss Federal Cross within a sunburst over the top of the chamber, with a double crowned "U" commercial proof, which is repeated on left side of breechblock, both of which appearing to have been enhanced at one time. Toggle is marked with the Mauser banner logo. Left side of the bbl. exhibits an added hand engraved "Kal. 7,65". Frame, grip safety, sideplate, bbl. extension, and toggle train exhibit a professionally reapplied rust blue finish overall, with the left side of the frame having been appropriately machined in-the-white at the safety lever. Bbl. exhibits a proper salt blue finish, with some small parts including the takedown lever, trigger, safety lever, and ejector exhibiting an apparent reheated straw finish. Frame is mounted with 2-piece replacement checkered wood grips, retained via replacement fire blued grip screws. All serialized parts are matching and include the frame, takedown lever, sideplate, trigger, safety lever, hold-open latch, bbl., bbl. extension, trigger bar, breechblock, firing pin, toggles as well as the replacement grips. Trigger bar has been shaved down and renumbered to match. MAGS: x1 blued steel 8-rd. with aluminum plug. Plug appears to have been renumbered to match at one time. CONDITION: near fine, as professionally restored, with metal components retaining the vast majority of their reapplied blue finish, exhibiting some spots of light wear and thinning that are primarily present on edges. Breechblock and toggles exhibit light pitting beneath their blue finish. Sides of bbl. exhibit a patch of light pitting and finish loss / thinning on either side at the muzzle. Strawed parts are excellent. Brilliant mirror bore, retaining strong rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics. Grips show some very light smoothing at the tips of the diamonds, as well as a few superficial marks and nicks from handling and storage overall. PROVENANCE: The Estate Collection of John Eckert.(26-1158/MLW). CURIO. $3,000-5,000.
