WINCHESTER 1890 SLIDE ACTION RIFLE WITH FACTORY LETTER. Cal. 22 L. S# 5325. Of the approx. 849,000 Model 90/1890 rifles produced, only 15,552 were the solid frame First Model. Bbl 24-3/8" (which is correct for early production) with German silver blade front sight & sporting rear. Upper tang mounted with Lyman receiver sight. Case hardened action & hammer. Blued steel barrel & mag tube. Barrel address is correct First style (broken "D" in "MANUFACTURED". Top barrel flat stamped "22 LONG". Winchester proofs are not present which is correct. Walnut 12 groove slide handle and straight grip buttstock with crescent steel buttplate. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: Winchester Factory letter indicating the following: Serial number applied on August 14, 1891 / Type: Rifle / Caliber: 22 L / Received in warehouse on September 15, 1891 / Shipped from warehouse on September 15, 1891, Order number 10908. CONDITION: very fine overall. Receiver and hammer retain 92% bright original case colors with a few scattered areas of fine freckling; lower tang fading to silver. Crescent steel buttplate shows traces of original case color. Barrel retains 90% original blue with a few scattered light dings and finish scratches plus mild high edge wear. Bolt retains 98% original blue. Stock set retain 90% original factory finish with staining at toe along with a few scattered handling marks and impressions. Bore is good with strong rifling.
