Cal. 50-70. NSN. Bbl. 36 5/8". Blade front sight. Dual-leaf rear sight. Springfield Armory 2nd Model Allin Trapdoor rifle converted from an earlier musket. 1866 dated breechblock. 1865 dated Springfield lock. Breechblock & lock assemblies have case colored finish. Balance of other parts have bright finish. Walnut stock set with bottom mounted sling swivels. Two faint inspector's cartouches on left side. Replacement ramrod present. CONDITION: sanded stock shows a 1 1/2" crack on left side between bands, some chips in ramrod channel, a few gouges, scattered dings & handling marks. Lock & breechblock assembles are a dull gray patian with some light pitting & overall. oxidation. Bands, trigger guard & buttplate cleaned to bright with scattered light oxidation & some scratches. Bbl. is mostly a gray patina with overall oxidation, some scattered light pitting & some areas being dull gray. Action functions properly when hand cycled. Bore is paritally bright with scattered pitting & oxidation but strong rifling. (01-28664/MJC). ANTIQUE. $500-800.
