ACTION SHORT RIFLE. Cal. 25-20. S# 521134. Mfg. 1910. This very nice original special order number has a rare 22" round rifle bbl. The barrel is fitted with a dovetailed Marbles Sheard front sight and a Lyman folding leaf rear sight. The bbl is marked with the 3rd variation address without hashlines "MANUFACTURED BY THE WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO. / NEW HAVEN, CONN. U.S.A. PATENTED OCTOBER 14, 1884", "25-29 WCF" caliber marking, & circle PW proof. It has a 2/3 takedown magazine. The upper tang of the take down frame is marked with the 3rd type 3-line 1892 marking and fitted with a Lyman 1A tang peep sight. It is stocked with a straight grip smooth walnut stock set with hard rubber shotgun buttplate. CONDITION: overall very fine. The barrel and mag retain 90% of its original blue with some light scratches and muzzle wear. The frame has 70% of the original blue with carry wear and a few minor handling marks, the balance of the exposed metal has an even silvered grey patina. The lever has some traces of remaining case coloring in the protected areas. Very nice stock set with scattered light handling marks and a few small edge chips.
