SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL. Cal. 9x19mm. S# 248. Bbl. 3 15/16". P.08 Luger semi-automatic pistol mfg. by Simson & Co. in 1925. The top of the bbl. extension is marked "1925", with 4 Simson Eagle/6 proofs, followed by a Weimar reichsadler (repeated on the bbl. and left side of the breechblock) marked on the right. Toggle is marked "SIMSON & Co/ SUHL". Rear of frame is unusually stamped with a "1" above the lanyard loop. Various components and small parts are marked with Eagle/6 proofing, in the usual Simson fashion. Metal components exhibit a reapplied blue finish overall, with strawed parts having been reheated. Frame is mounted with (possibly reproduction 2-piece checkered wood grips, each marked with a Simson Eagle/6 on the interior of the panels. Standard dovetailed blade front sight and fixed V-notch rear sight. Frame is cut for a Walther trigger / mag. safety, which is absent. Most serialized parts are matching and include the frame, safety lever & bar, bbl., bbl. extension, trigger bar, breechblock, and toggles. Takedown lever has been renumbered to match. Trigger and grips are mismatched (grips match each other via "1390"). Sideplate and extractor are Erfurt armorer spare replacements. Hold-open latch is unserialized. MAGS: 1 non-matching renumbered mag. with an aluminum plug marked with an Eagle/46 proof. CONDITION: metal components retain the vast majority of their reapplied blue finish, exhibiting some light to mild edge wear, some superficial handling marks, as well as scattered spots of light to mild pitting that is present both above and below the finish. Strawed parts retain the majority of their reheated finish, showing scattered spots of light to mild pitting. Bore exhibits a consistent scattering of mild to moderate pitting, while retaining worn rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics. Grips are excellent overall. (25-6059/MLW). CURIO. $1,000-1,500.
