FILM "VIVA VILLA".Cal 7mm. S# 3157. Bbl. 16 1/2". Blade front sight. Tangent rear sight graduated to 1400m. Standard config. FN made Mexican 1924 Mauser carbine. All visible matching numbers. Receiver ring has Mexican crest with 1924 date. Left side of receiver has Belgian proofs & FN address. Hardwood stock with correct bracket on right side of butt, bottom mounted sling swivels & leather sling. Recoil lug installed backwards & cleaning rod present. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: string tag stating "THIS RIFLE USED BY WALLACE BEERY IN VIVA VILLA" and "Ex-Collection Howard Hawks (director)". CONDITION: stock set has an old refinish with added varnish, some staining, scattered dings & handling marks. Metal is mostly a dull gray patina with scattered oxidation & traces of bluing. Action functions properly when hand cycled. Good bore with strong rifling. PROVENANCE: estate collection of Compton LaBauve Jr. (26-387/JS). CURIO. (1,000-2,000).
