NO.2 MK.I* HIGH POWER SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL. Cal. 9mm Luger. S# 3T4211. Bbl.4 5/8". Early No.2 MK.I* ("NO.2 MK.I*" marking had not been applied at Inglis at the time of mfg.) semi-automatic pistol mfg. by Inglis under contract for the Netherlands, with this example being one of very few Inglis High Power pistols released by the Netherlands prior to the 1960 Dutch renumbering scheme. The left side of the slide is marked "MK.I*" above "BROWNING-F.N.9MM.H.P." and "INGLIS, CANADA". Right side of the frame, slide, and bbl. exhibit Canadian proofing. Right side of the rear sight is marked with a Dutch Crown/W proof, for Queen Wilhelmina. Metal components exhibit a phosphate finish overall, save for on the bbl., which is polished in-the-white. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered black synthetic grips, with the frame also featuring a lanyard stud and ring on the left side. Thumbprint slide features a dovetailed blade front sight, with a fixed square notch rear sight. All serialized parts are matching in the "stacked" fashion, and include the frame, slide, and bbl. MAGS: 1 13-rd. phosphate mag., marked "JI" on the front of the body and on the bottom of the split tail floorplate. CONDITION: metal components retain the majority of their arsenal phosphate finish, exhibiting light to mild edge wear, with scattered superficial handling marks overall. Very bright bore, exhibiting areas of light pitting, while retaining well defined rifling throughout. Grips show superficial marks from handling and storage, but otherwise remain sturdy and serviceable. PROVENANCE: The Estate Collection of Charles Wagner. (25-429/MLW). CURIO. $1,000-2,000.
