Cal. 9mm. S# 11535. Bbl. 12". Blade front sight. Adjustable aperture rear sight. The upper & lower parts of receiver are both numbered are both numbered "11736" while right side of trigger housing is numbered "UD11535". Scarce WW2 era SMG made by Marlin for the United Defense Company. The UD-42 was made as a replacement for the Thompson in US service but was ultimately not adopted. Instead, the UD-42 were provided to partisans by the OSS. The gun saw service in France, Greece, Holland, Yugoslavia and Burma. Only 15,000 UD-42 SMGs were made in total. This example is a reactivated one but still transferable UD-42s are very hard to find making this example a great chance for the WW2 or MG collector to acquire one. NFA registry lists mfr. as "Luger". Dull gray finish. Walnut stock set with vertical foregrip & canvas sling. Left side of butt has stamped "239" rack number. MAGS: 2-20 rd. CONDITION: stock shows a light area at front left of forend, the expected scattered dings, scratches & handling marks of an issued arm. Front underside area of the receiver and underside of the bbl. both show a small tack weld that had been ground down on both parts allowing bbl. removal in the same spot indicating this example is a rewat. Metal otherwise retains 80% dark gray finish with scattered edge wear, light oxidation, thinning, handling marks & fading. Action functions properly when hand cycled. Very good plus bright bore with strong rifling. PROVENANCE: Military Museum Collection of Shooters Outpost, Hooksett NH. NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT MG REQUIRING BATF TRANSFER BEFORE TAKING POSSESSION. FULLY TRANSFERABLE. (03-2140/MJC). CURIO, CLASS III. $20,000-30,000.
