9X19MM LUGER SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL. Cal. 9mm Luger. S# 48596. Bbl. 3 15/16".1 of approx. 3,000 Model 1906 American Eagle Luger semi-automatic pistols chambered in 9x19mm Parabellum, mfg. by DWM and falling within the approx. 26500-69000 S# range. The bbl. extension is marked with the Great Seal of the United States over the top of the chamber, with Crown/B and Crown/U commercial proofing marked on the left. Toggle is marked with the intertwined "DWM" monogram logo. Underside of bbl. is marked with Crown/B, Crown/U, and Crown/G proofing. Metal components exhibit a rust blue finish overall, save for on some small parts including the takedown lever, trigger, mag. release button, safety lever, as well as the ejector, which are strawed. Left side of the frame is properly polished in-the-white at the safety lever's "fire" position. Mag. release button spring, trigger bar spring, and grip screws exhibit a nitre blue finish. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered wood grips, featuring a grip safety. Dovetailed blade front sight with fixed V-notch rear sight. All serialized parts are matching in the "hidden" commercial fashion, and include the frame, takedown lever, sideplate, trigger, grip safety, bbl., bbl. extension, breechblock, forward toggle link (underside), and rear toggle link. MAGS: x1 plated 8-rd. with wood plug, properly marked "Cal. 9m/m." on the underside. CONDITION: fine, with metal components retaining the vast majority of their original factory rust blue finish, exhibiting some light edge wear fading to gray patina, some small scattered spots of light wear, as well as a few superficial handling marks overall. Strawed parts retain large amounts of their original finish, showing some wear and thinning fading to gray patina. Grip screws show areas of wear fading to gray patina. Bore is bright, exhibiting consistent light pitting, while retaining good, albeit worn rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics. Grips show some smoothing and a few superficial nicks to the diamonds, but otherwise remain very good overall. An especially attractive example of a rare DWM Model 1906 American Eagle Luger chambered in 9x19mm Parabellum. PROVENANCE: The Estate Collection of John Eckert. (26-1155/MLW). CURIO. $3,000-5,000.
