Restored Antique European Large-Bore Flintlock Horseman's Pistol, #NVSN, .75 cal., 10.5" round-to-octagonal barrel with low blade front sight, no rear sight. Beveled lockplate appears to be marked "25" at bottom, has swan-neck cock and faceted pan. Walnut stock with brass furniture, raised panels at either side of lock, carved teardrop behind barrel tang, and single ferrule retaining the tulip-head hardwood ramrod. Condition is fair as configured, the lock (or at least cock and frizzen) is a modern replacement. Heavily-pitted barrel shows an area where apparently once was a band, and the stock may have been reshaped in that area of the forend. Stock shows wear, thru-crack at lower wrist, damage/repair at lower rear, repaired cracks at both sides between nose and lock, and at ramrod ferrule, later varnish. Rear trigger guard tang is broken. Ramrod is likely a replacement. Action functions but trigger does not trip cock without help, smoothbore shows moderate to heavy erosion. Est.: $200-$400. (Antique)
