Red Bear's name is written in togia on the gun with marks of "gifted" also in place. Red Bear was a Sans Arc and during the battle of Little Bighorn he was selected to guard the sacred tent and peace pipe and was given this revolver for his role in guarding the tent. He went with his family into Canada with Sitting Bull and surrendered in 1880, eventually settling on the Cheyenne River west of Fort Sully.
