REVOLVER. Cal. 44. S# 3553. Bbl 7 1/2" octagon with cone style front sight. Top strap is marked "ROGERS & SPENCER / UTICA NY". Round 6 shot cylinder. Solid frame single action with hinged type loading lever. Blue finish. Of 5,800 mfg. in 1865 5,000 were U. S. inspected. No records exist to indicate issuance. Almost the entire lot were purchased in 1901 by Francis Bannerman who sold them I n his catalog over the next few years. CONDITION: metal finish has faded to brown. Showing dents & marks. Walnut 2 pc grips are replacements. Some action screws are replacements. Action functions properly. Bore has a frosted appearance & strong rifling. (01-29364/DS). ANTIQUE. $2,000-2,750
