Cal. 73. NSN. High comb stock, swelled at rear pipe made in the style of long land pattern Brown Bess, 49" octagonal to round barrel with bayonet lug, nailed tang, American made brass triggerguard & sideplate, buttplate and ramrod pipes are salvaged early Brown Bess or American copies. Lock is salvaged from French musket with indiscernible marking. This is a very desirable American Revolutionary War musket. CONDITION: very good overall, original flint configuration, appears complete and matching, stock has crack at toe, forestock has been refinished and varnished, no discernible repairs. Mechanics are good other than lock will not hold on full cock, good smooth bore. PROVENANCE: William W. Ivey collection. (01-29033/JS). ANTIQUE. $5,000-6,000.
