INSPECTED REVOLVERS. 1.) Cal. 44. S# 7337. Bbl 8" octagon with exposed threads. Dec. 17, 1861 dated two line bbl address. Cone front sight. Round cylinder without safety stops. High spur hammer. Blue finish with brass trigger guard. Major parts have "P", "S" or "A" inspection marks. Walnut grips with cartouche on left panel. Estimated quantity of 6,000 mfg. in 1862. CONDITION: cleaned gray metal with areas of light pitting. Trigger guard is cleaned bright. Refinished grips have chips and dents at the butt. Cylinder does not rotate when action is cycled. Bore is generally bright with strong rifling. (01-29351/DS). ANTIQUE.2.) Whitney 2nd Model Type 2 Navy. Cal. 36. S#. 18252. Bbl 7 5/8" with loading lever. Top flat is marked "E. WHITNEY / N. HAVEN". Blade front sight appears to be a replacement. Round 6 shot cylinder with pin held by a wing nut. Major parts have "B" or "I" inspector markings. Walnut grips. Serial number range 1,200 to 13,000. CONDITION: gray metal showing dents, marks & some light pitting. No cylinder scene remains. Brass trigger guard is cleaned bright. Grips show wear with chips & dents at the butt. The cylinder does not rotate properly when the action is cycled. Lightly pitted bore retains intact rifling. (01-29365/DS). ANTIQUE. $1,500-2,000.
