1876 LEVER ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 45-75. S# 9340. Mfg. 1880. This special order 1876 has been fitted with a 30" octagonal bbl with dovetailed Rocky Mountain front sight and "1876" marked adjustable leaf rear sight. The bbl has the standard address with no caliber marking. The dust cover is of the impressed checkered thumbprint type with screw mounted guide rail. Early "plain" upper tang "MODEL.1876" marking with provisions for tang sight. Lower tang is marked with assembly number "1944". Unmarked elevator. The straight grip rifle stock set has a smooth trapdoor steel crescent buttplate. Both the stock & buttplate have no visible internal assembly numbers. CONDITION: overall fair-good. Metal surfaces are nearly void of finish with some traces remaining in the most protected of areas with the balance having a pretty even brownish patina with some light handling marks present. The stock set has been lightly sanded and show hand wear. The forearm has some edge chips, dents, and a glued repaired chip through on the bbl channel. The butt has edge chips, some heavy dings, and some light handling marks. Frosted bore with some rifling wear and pitting. (01-28775/ZAL). ANTIQUE. $3,000-4,000.
