NATIONALE HIGH POWER SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL. Cal. 9mm Luger. S# 75C33589. Bbl. 4 5/8". High Power semi-automatic pistol mfg. by Fabrique Nationale under contract for the Panamanian National Guard in 1975. The left side of the slide is marked "FABRIQUE NATIONALE HERSTAL BELGIQUE/ BROWNING'S PATENT DEPOSE", with the Panamanian crest between "REPUBLIC DE PANA" and "GUARDIA NACIONAL" marked on the top of the slide. Right side of the forward trigger guard web and 2-piece bbl. exhibit a Belgian commercial proof. Metal components exhibit a black enamel finish (applied over a phosphate finish) overall, save for on the bbl., which is polished in-the-white. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered black synthetic grips. Left side of frame features a provision for a lanyard ring, with the stud and ring being absent. Slide features an external extractor, with a fixed half-moon blade front sight and dovetailed square notch rear sight. All serialized parts are matching via "0589", which is present on the right side of the frame, slide, and bbl. MAGS: 1 13-rd., with blued button type floorplate. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: notes from Charles Wagner detailing this variation. CONDITION: metal components retain fair amounts of their black enamel type finish, exhibiting wear and thinning overall that shows through to gray and brown patinas, with some scattered spots of pitting. Bore is bright, exhibiting what appears to be some light to mild pitting and oxidation, as well as areas of what appear to be hardened grease and/or firing residue, while retaining strong rifling throughout. Grips show scattered superficial marks and impressions from handling and storage, but otherwise remain sturdy and serviceable. PROVENANCE: The Estate Collection of Charles Wagner. (25-437/MLW). CURIO. $1,000-2,000.
