COMMERCIAL LUGER SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL WITH PERIOD BOX, ORIGINAL MANUAL & ACCESSORIES. Cal. 30 Luger. S# 91296. Bbl. 3 3/4". 1 of approx. 7,000 Model 1923 "Safe & Loaded" Commercial Luger semi-automatic pistol mfg. by DWM post-WWI. The left side of the bbl. extension is marked with a Crown/N commercial nitro proof, which is repeated on the left side of the forward toggle link and underside of the bbl. The toggle is marked with the intertwined "DWM" monogram logo. Front of frame is stamped "GERMANY" below the S#, with "SAFE" on the left. Extractor is marked "LOADED" Metal components exhibit a rust blue finish overall, with some small parts including the takedown lever, trigger, mag. release button, safety lever, and ejector exhibiting a straw finish. Mag. release spring, rear toggle pin, and grip screws exhibit a nitre blue finish. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered wood grips. Standard dovetailed blade front sight and fixed V-notch rear sight. All serialized parts are matching in the "hidden" commercial fashion, and include the frame, takedown lever, sideplate, trigger, bbl., bbl. extension (on lug), as well as the rear toggle link. MAGS: x2 plated 8-rd. mags. with wood plugs marked "GERMANY". UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: plain unmarked period box containing the aforementioned spare mag. and an original English manual marked "THE/ "PARABELLUM"/ Automatic Pistol/ Deutsche Waffen-und/ Munitions Fabriken/ Berlin" on the cover. CONDITION: near fine, with metal components retaining bountiful amounts of their original factory rust blue finish, exhibiting some light wear on edges, a spot of light wear on the bbl. extension at the junction of frame rail and sideplate, as well as a patch of mild pitting on the bbl. extension at the approx. 320 degree position from the Crown/N nitro proof. Strawed parts retain the majority of their original finish, showing some light wear and thinning that is fading to gray patina. Brilliant mirror bore, retaining well defined rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics. Grips show some very light smoothing, with few superficial handling marks. Box shows a full length tear along one of the long edges of the lid, but otherwise remains sound. Manual exhibits age related discoloration and some wear, with a tear stemming from the upper staple on the cover. Pages have separated from the cover, but otherwise remain completely intact.
